Yamaha Music India Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Ahmedabad Municipal School Board to Expand Music Education in Government Schools

AHMEDABAD, GUJARAT | 04th JUNE 2026 | Yamaha Music India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ahmedabad Municipal School Board under Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation to introduce music learning programs in government schools across Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The initiative aims to provide students access to music education while supporting holistic learning and student development.

Under the guidance of Hon. Municipal Commissioner Shri Banchanidhi Pani of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, the MoU was signed by Mr. Kennei Sakai, Managing Director, Yamaha Music India and Dr. L. D. Desai, Administrative Officer of the Ahmedabad Municipal School Board, in the presence of Dr. Sujaybhai Mehta, Chairman and Mr. Vipulbhai Sevak, Vice Chairman from the Ahmedabad Municipal School Board. As part of the two-year collaboration, Yamaha Music India will train 48 educators in July 2026 to conduct recorder classes for 1,692 Grade 5 students across 24 government schools.

Commenting on the collaboration, Mr. Kennei Sakai, Managing Director, Yamaha Music India said, “At Yamaha Music India, we believe music plays an important role in nurturing creativity, discipline, and confidence among young students. Through this collaboration, we hope to create meaningful opportunities for children through music learning.”

“Our School Project has continued to grow steadily since its launch in 2017, and the Ahmedabad project marks another important step in expanding access to structured music education in government schools. Through teacher training, learning materials, and classroom support, we aim to build a sustainable music learning environment for students,” Mr. Ryoji Maruyama, Sales Unit Head, Yamaha Music India added.

Dr. Sujaybhai Mehta, Chairman, Ahmedabad Municipal School Board said, “We welcome this collaboration with Yamaha Music India as an initiative that will encourage creativity and provide students with new learning opportunities through music education.”

Mr. Vipulbhai Sevak, Vice Chairman, Ahmedabad Municipal School Board said, “Music plays an important role in the overall development of children, and we are happy to support a program that will create an engaging learning experience for students in our schools.”

Dr. L. D. Desai, Administrative Officer, Ahmedabad Municipal School Board under Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation said, “We are pleased to collaborate with Yamaha Music India to introduce music education programs in our schools. Exposure to music and creative activities supports the overall growth of students by boosting their confidence and enhancing their creative side.”

Launched in 2017, Yamaha Music India’s School Project has expanded to more than 650 schools and reached over 43,000 students across the country. In recent years, the initiative has also extended to government schools through collaborations with the Delhi Board of School Education in 2023 and the Nagaland Directorate of Education in 2026.
