Renowned motivational speaker Sanjay Raval was the Chief Guest at the inaugural session. Vadodara MP Dr. Hemang Joshi is also expected to participate in the event.
Young Indians Parliament enables students to research national issues, assume the roles of members of the government and opposition, debate public policy, deliberate on proposed legislation and work together to develop solutions to contemporary challenges.
On the opening day, participants took part in parliamentary procedures, speaker election ,committee discussions, bill drafting , policy debates and leadership exercises designed to strengthen teamwork, public speaking and decision-making.
Speaking on the occasion, Darshan Parikh, Chair, Yi Ahmedabad, said, “Young Indians Parliament is aimed at encouraging young people to understand democracy not only as a system of governance but also as a shared responsibility. By participating in debates, questioning ideas and finding solutions, students develop leadership qualities and a deeper appreciation of civic participation. We hope this experience inspires them to become informed and responsible citizens.”
He added that initiatives such as Young Indians Parliament help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world governance by giving students practical exposure to democratic institutions and public policy.
The programme reflects Yi’s focus on developing future leaders. This edition of Young Indians Parliament is being organised as part of Yi Ahmedabad’s celebrations marking 20 years of its journey.
The second day of Young Indians Parliament will feature further parliamentary proceedings, legislative debates and leadership sessions.
