Visa Announces Partnership with Rashtriya Raksha University to Strengthen Cybersecurity Training in India


  • Visa and Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) sign MoU to deliver institutional cybersecurity training programs.
  • The initiative will benefit four key groups: students, professionals, cybersecurity leaders, and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs).
  • Initiative aims to strengthen India’s defenses against digital payment fraud and cyber threats.

Gandhinagar 28 March 2025: Visa, the global leader in digital payments, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an institute of national importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, to advance cybersecurity education in India. The landmark partnership will equip students, professionals, cybersecurity leaders and law enforcement agencies with critical skillsto combat emerging digital scams and sophisticated threats.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice-Chancellor, RRU, and Sandeep Ghosh, Group Country Manager for Visa India and South Asia, at RRU’s Gandhinagar campus. With Visa’s expertise in digital payments and RRU’s academic and research excellence in security studies, this partnership will create a structured impactful training initiative that will help beneficiaries across academic and professional levels andenhance India’s digital resilience.The three-year collaboration will deliver curated programs, expert-led training, and co-created knowledge resources to build a safer digital future for India.

Commenting on the partnership, Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice-Chancellor, Rashtriya Raksha University said, “This collaboration marks a significant step in strengthening India’s cybersecurity ecosystem. RashtriyaRaksha University is committed to pioneering security education, and this partnership with Visa will empower individuals and institutions with the necessary knowledge to mitigate cyber risks, ensuring a secure digital economy for the nation.” 

Sandeep Ghosh, Group Country Manager, Visa India and South Asia added, “Visa is honouredto partner with the Rashtriya Raksha University to champion cybersecurity in India. As India and Indians become more digital-first, securing the ecosystem requires collective action to build awareness and equip professionals with the right skills, tools and knowhow. Our partnership with RRU reflects Visa’s commitment to building trust in the digital ecosystem through education, robust technology and innovation. By combining forces, we believe RRU and Visa can help our country’s citizens, professionals and officials to stay ahead of cybersecurity threats.”

This initiative builds on Visa’s ongoing efforts to promote safe digital payments in India,embedding cybersecurity training in the curriculumof its programs. As part of its Digital Village Program, Visa adopted 1,000 villages across 18 states and in the Tourism Skilling Program, Visa trained 50,000 people, half of whom are women, on financial literacy and cybersecurity in digital payments.

Visa has also undertaken awareness campaigns like #SatarkNagrik during Cybersecurity Awareness Month (October 2024), as well as Financial Literacy Week (February 2025), and Digital Payments Awareness Week (March 2025), reinforcing its commitment to consumer education. 

This partnership underscores RRU’s dedication to national security and its commitment to fostering academic excellence in security studies, law enforcement, and cybersecurity.
