Toyota Kirloskar Motor Concludes 33rd iCARE Event with a Focus on STEM Education

Bangalore 20 January 2025: Reinforcing its commitment to holistic community development, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today announced the culmination of its 33rd iCARE(i, Community Action to Reach Everyone) activity on 19th January, at Government High School, Doddagholarahatti, near Kengeri. This impactful initiative saw the participation of 200 enthusiastic iCARE volunteers, along with 100 students from the host school, working collaboratively to design and build interactive STEM models such as hand pumps, solar energy systems, geo boards, and electromagnets. This effort, aligning with International Education Month, underscores Toyota’s dedication to nurturing young minds through experiential learning, promoting a ‘learn by doing’ approach that is crucial to foster problem-solving skills and creative thinking.

STEM kits are vital in transforming classroom learning by bridging the gap between theory and practice. They enable students to experiment and explore concepts firsthand, cultivating an environment rich in creativity and discovery. For under-resourced schools, these kits offer invaluable opportunities to access interactive learning tools that nurture innovative thinking and problem-solving skills. Integrating STEM kits into education empowers students to develop a solid foundation for academic growth and future career success.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sudeep Dalvi, Chief Communication Officer, Senior Vice President & Head State Affairs – Toyota Kirloskar Motorsaid,“The iCARE program is a true testament to our commitment to creating a meaningful and sustainable impact in the communities we serve. At Toyota Kirloskar Motor, we strongly believe that education is the cornerstone of building a brighter future, and STEM education, in particular, is key to fostering curiosity, innovation, and problem-solving skills among students. The provision of STEM kits is essential in bridging the learning gap by offering students hands-on tools that turn theoretical knowledge into practical understanding. Through this 33rd iCARE activity, we aimed to create practical, hands-on learning experiences for young minds that not only help them grasp theoretical concepts but also inspire them to innovate and apply these learnings in real-world scenarios. The overwhelming participation of our volunteers and students highlights the power of collaboration and shared purpose. We remain steadfast in our mission to empower communities, and we are committed to driving more such initiatives that touch lives and make a lasting difference.

This initiative is part of the iCARE program for FY 2024-25, reflecting TKM’s comprehensive approach to social responsibility. Earlier in 2024, TKM organized a clean-up drive at Irregowdana Lake in Bidadi, improved school infrastructure at GHS Ullal Upanagara in Kengeri, and created educational murals and materials for GHS Kannahalli. These efforts highlight TKM’s commitment to education, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment.

Since its inception in 2017, iCARE has brought together over 3,000 dedicated volunteers across 33 impactful events, positively influencing the lives of over 67,600 community members. From planting saplings during clean-up drives to creating STEM learning tools, each activity embodies Toyota’s unwavering commitment to giving back to society.Looking ahead, TKM remains dedicated to encouraging employees to actively engage in impactful initiatives, reinforcing Toyota’s unwavering commitment to social responsibility and fostering a lasting, positive influence on communities.
