Gujarat, Ahmedabad 28 February 2025: The National Innovation Foundation (NIF) – India, an autonomous body of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India will be celebrating its Silver jubilee on 1st and 2nd March 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, Science City, Ahmedabad. The two day programme will be graced by dignitaries from various walks of life.
On this momentous occasion which will be yet another significant milestone of NIF’s journey, the Institution will be fortunate to have the blessings and gracious presence of Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Science & Technology (Independent Charge), Government of India and Shri Jagadish Vishwakarma, Hon’ble Minister of MSME (State), Government of Gujarat. Their words of wisdom and motivation for Grassroots Innovators, Outstanding Traditional Knowledge holders and student innovators whom NIF has been serving for past 25 years; entrepreneurs and other eco-system builders like collaborators and network partners amongst others, all gathering under one roof with a common sense of purpose, will be a rare treat to witness and shall be remembered for decades ahead.
The innovators will also include about seven grassroots innovators and innovators who have been conferred Padma Shri by the Government of India and emerged as earliest beneficiaries of People’s Padma initiative under the dynamic and very inclusive leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji. They will be honoured by NIF on this significant occasion as respect and recognition to their inspiring journeys would inspire the budding innovators of our nation who wish to transform the society through their innovative work.
Other dignitaries who will be present over a period of two days during this historic occasion would include Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairperson, NIF, NETF and NBA; Prof. Anil K Gupta, Visiting Professor, IIMA, IITB, AcSIR and Founder of SRISTI, GIAN and NIF; Dr. Gulshan Rai, Chairman, NIFientreC (NIF Incubation and Entrepreneurship Council); Dr. T Ramasami, Former Secretary, DST, Government of India; Dr. V S Ramamurthy, Former Secretary, DST, Government of India and other dignitaries.
The major highlight of the two day celebrations would include and not be limited to release of postal stamp and special envelope, release of Coffee Table Book of NIF, unveiling of a Silver Jubilee logo of NIF, Release of Silver Jubilee film, Launch of NIF’s Bimonthly Magazine, an exhibition of innovations representing the length and breadth of our nation from a variety of Science and Technology domains and rich discussions on themes of contemporary importance by experts and stalwarts in our country viz. Viksit Bharat @ 2047 – the future roadmap for NIF;
The foundation day celebrations are an outcome of months of rigorous preparation by team NIF led by Dr Arvind C Ranade, Director NIF and architects comprising of senior organizational leaders and other Scientists and NIF team.
This occasion is of paramount importance to NIF because while on one side it would reflect the 25 years which the Institution have already completed incubating innovations and making a positive difference to lives of common people, creating an identity called GRASSROOTS INNOVATOR for them, it is also conscious of changing societal needs, renewed expectations for next 25 years from common people so that its delivery of an important public service to citizens continue to happen in the country’s ambitious goal – Viksit Bharat @ 2047 !
