Ahmedabad 19 November 2024: The Gujarat Women’s Championship 2024 commenced with great enthusiasm at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Organised by the Big Bash Sports Foundation and Sahajanand Foundation, in association with the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), the event celebrates women’s cricket and champions women empowerment.
The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries. Smt. Sonal Shah, wife of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the championship. She lauded the growing opportunities for women in sports and encouraged the participants to shine on this prestigious platform.
Smt. Shubhangi Kulkarni, former captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team and a BCCI Apex Council Member, was the Guest of Honour. In her address, she highlighted the importance of nurturing young talent and the role of initiatives like Gujarat Women’s Championship in driving gender equality in sports.
The Gujarat Women’s Championship 2024, scheduled from November 19 to November 24, promises an exciting showcase of skill and determination by women cricketers from across the state. Matches will be held daily, culminating in the final on November 24 at the same venue. The closing ceremony will be attended by Ajay Patel, Senior Vice President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), along with other eminent personalities.
