Ahmedabad, June 19, 2024: The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, a ‘Centre of Excellence’ recognised by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India, hosted its 23rd Convocation of Academic Programmes on 19th June 2024. Diplomas and fellows were conferred on 78 students, including 74postgraduate diplomas and 4 fellows in management.Shri Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO, National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) graced the grand ceremony as the Chief Guest. Shri Ashishkumar awarded scholastic medals to graduating students and delivered the convocation address.
Dr Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII, welcomed the Hon’ble Chief Guest and the guests.The event was presided over by EDII President, Shri Rakesh Sharma, MD & CEO, IDBI Bank Ltd.; Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII and EDII Board Members,Shri Anindya Sundar Paul, Chief General Manager (SME & Supply Chain Finance), State Bank of India; Dr. Milind Kamble, Founder Chairman, Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Shri Anil Bhardwaj, Secretary General, Federation of Indian Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) and Dr. O.P. Goel, Advisor to Chief Executive Officer, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)were also present on the occasion.
Distinguished Chief Guest, Shri Ashishkumar Chauhan, congratulated the graduating students, highlighting the incredible opportunities that await them in the current era. Motivating them to be go-getters, he said, “Today, India stands as the 5th largest economy, the 4th largest Capital Market and the 3rd Largest Startup hub globally. The spirit of entrepreneurship is not just about starting and running a business; it’s about embracing a mindset that welcomes challenges, values creativity, and seeks to make a positive impact on the Society. Entrepreneurship will be a catalyst for India to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat as per the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji. I congratulate the students for pursuing a career in entrepreneurship and wish all the graduates the very best for their future endeavours.” The Chief Guest concluded by advising the students to benchmark against the best and be responsive to the changing trends.
President EDII, Shri Rakesh Sharma said, “The Institute has successfully created an entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystem globally. The Institute was ahead of its times in prioritizing entrepreneurship and foresee how this discipline would be a game changer for achieving national growth. Today, we witness regular deliberations, brainstorming sessions and seminars on entrepreneurship development, strengthening MSMEs and propelling startups and innovations, in all academic forums. I congratulate the students for choosing to pursue entrepreneurship and for venturing out at an opportune time.”
Dr Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDIItraced the genesis of EDII and its commitment to promoting entrepreneurship, over more than 4 decades. Dr. Shukla informed, “EDII has worked towards promoting entrepreneurship, research & policy advocacy, innovations, skilling, SME growth, livelihood & inclusivity and incubation. EDII projects in association with Government ministries, State Governments, Developmental& Multilateral agencies as well as noted corporates, are visibly ensuring skill upgradation, setting up of enterprises, revenue generation and employment creation, thus consolidating entrepreneurship, PAN India. Leveraging its strengths and experience EDII has successfully reached out to more & more regions nationally & internationally, with unique models to broad-base entrepreneurship.”
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII.
