AGFTC and ITBA to Organise Two-Day Tax Conclave on March 21-22

Gujarat, Ahmedabad 19 March 2025: The All Gujarat Federation of Tax Consultants (AGFTC) and the Income Tax Bar Association (ITBA), Gujarat, are jointly organising a two-day Tax Conclave on March 21 and 22. The event will bring together leading experts in taxation, legal professionals, and industry stalwarts to discuss critical issues in income tax and GST.

The conclave will feature seven technical sessions covering key developments in tax law, including discussions on old provisions of the Income Tax Act of 1961 and the new provisions of the Income Tax Bill 2025, with a special focus on capital gains and charitable trusts.

The Chief Guest for the event will be Justice (Retired) Jayant Patel, former judge of Gujarat and Karnataka high courts, while the Guest of Honour will be Satish Sharma, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Gujarat.

Speaking about the significance of the conclave, CA (Dr.) Vishves Shah, President of AGFTC, said, “There are continuous changes in tax laws making it imperative for professionals to stay informed and updated. The conclave is bringing together some of the most eminent tax experts from all over the country, making it a great opportunity for meaningful discussions and gaining insights from the best in the field.”

CA Shridhar Shah, President of ITBA, said, “The conclave will address some of the most pressing issues in direct and indirect taxation, providing valuable guidance on assessment and appeal proceedings, GST controversies, and cross-border tax matters. Participants can look forward to engaging in thought-provoking discussions with experts and delegates.”

Day one of the conclave will include panel discussions on direct tax issues, the impact of allied laws in GST and taxation related to the introduction and withdrawal of partners. The second day will focus on the role of constitutional courts in protecting taxpayer rights, controversies under GST, and technical aspects of tax deductions at source (TDS) on cross-border transactions and foreign asset disclosures. A separate panel will deliberate on key indirect tax concerns.

Renowned experts will lead the technical sessions, including Dr. Girish Ahuja, CA Pramod Jain, Senior Advocate Tushar Hemani, and Advocate Dhinal Shah in the domain of Income Tax, while GST-related sessions will be conducted by Advocate K. Vaitheeswaran, CA (Dr.) Arpit Haldia, and CA A. Jatin Christopher.

The event will also feature interactive brain trust sessions, where industry professionals, including Advocate Mehul Patel, CA Mehul Thakker, CA Aseem Thakkar, CA Harit Dhariwal, and CA Mitish Modi, will address income tax-related queries. GST-focused discussions will be led by Advocate (CA) Abhay Modi, CA Rashmin Vaja, CA Punit Prajapati, CA Jigar Shah, and Advocate Samir Siddhapuria.

The conclave will provide invaluable insights into the evolving taxation landscape and serve as an essential forum for knowledge-sharing among tax professionals and experts. It will take place at the Ahmedabad Management Association.
