The three-day festival will showcase over 400 artworks by established masters and emerging artists and an open-air Sculpture Park
AHMEDABAD, GUJARAT | 24th SEPTEMBER 2026 | The Ahmedabad edition of The Art Fest (TAF) is set to open on Friday, bringing together more than 400 artworks, established and emerging artists, live performances and public art installations. The festival will take place from September 25 to 27 and follows TAF’s recent international showcase in Dubai.
Founded by Suraj Laheru, Founder of The Art Fest International and Director of JS Art Gallery, Mumbai, and directed by Minali Thakkar, Festival Director of TAF and International Public Art Curator, the festival is centred on an ‘Art for All’ approach that seeks to make art more accessible. It envisioned as not just an exhibition, but a celebration of creativity, cultural exchange and artistic dialogue, and the growing contemporary art ecosystem of India.
A key feature of the festival is the open-air Sculpture Park, where large-scale works created using recycled, industrial and other sustainable materials will be presented alongside indoor exhibits. The festival will also include a special exhibition honouring Indian modern and contemporary masters, a Wall of Future showcasing emerging young artists, and an Art for a Cause initiative supporting social non-profits.
Suraj Laheru, Founder, The Art Fest International, said, “Ahmedabad is one of India’s most dynamic hubs for design innovation, spatial growth and cultural appreciation, and we want TAF to become part of the city. Our aim is to bring different kinds of audiences, including established collectors, designers, and people who may be experiencing an art festival for the first time, into the same space. The idea is to make discovering art feel natural, while also creating opportunities for artists at different stages of their careers.”
The festival will present works by recognised artists, including MF Hussain, B. Prabha, Ram Kumar, FN Souza, SH Raza alongside a wide range of contemporary artists showcasing diverse artistic practices, styles, and perspectives. From Santiniketan to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Singapore, and Dubai, The Art Fest will bring diverse artistic voices together in Ahmedabad, creating a meeting point for the art community.
It will also feature other creative disciplines through live music and art jugalbandis, where musicians and painters create together in real time. Workshops, masterclasses, panel discussions and private previews for architects and interior designers will form part of the programme.
Minali Thakkar, Festival Director, The Art Fest, said, “For decades, fine art has often been enclosed within galleries and surrounded by complex academic language. Public spaces give art a very different kind of life. The Sculpture Park will allow visitors to experience large-scale works in an everyday setting, while live performances will add another layer to that experience. For us, Art for All means creating a space where people can look, ask questions, discover artists and form their own connection with the work.”
TAF is also working with the Inner Wheel Club of Bombay Airport and Ahmedabad for its Art for a Cause initiative, which will use art to support social causes.
With its combination of exhibitions, public art, performances and learning programmes, TAF is positioning its Ahmedabad edition as a platform for discovering art beyond the conventional galleries. The festival, which will take place at Gwalia Blooms on Sindhu Bhavan Road, also reflects the growing intersection of art, architecture and design in the city.
