SFA Championships 2024 Ahmedabad: Checkmate Champions Shine on Day 3 as Participants Celebrate ‘Coach Day’

More than 14,000 athletes from 387 schools are participating in venues spread across the city

Ahmedabad 22 November 2024: Day 3 of the SFA Championships 2024 Ahmedabad turned the spotlight on the chessboard, where young minds battled it out with strategy and precision. The chess tournament saw standout performances across age groups, with Nagori Krishvi of Red Bricks School clinching gold in the U-7 Girls category and Aatman Raval from Global Indian International School, Godrej Garden City, dominating the U-15 Boys division.

In the U-7 Boys Finals, Riyan Anadkat from Apollo International School, Bhopal, claimed the top spot, while Shah Aarya Shamit of Udgam School, Ahmedabad, triumphed in the U-13 Girls Finals. Meanwhile, the Championships also celebrated ‘Coach Day’ on Friday, dedicating the day to honouring the invaluable contributions of coaches in shaping young athletes. Special activities were organised to recognise their hard work and dedication as the event highlighted the pivotal role coaches play in students’ lives.

Sports For All (SFA) is committed to professionalising, organising, and monetising grassroots sports, aiming to foster a culture that values and invests in sports nationwide. The championships this year will run until November 26, roping in participants from across Ahmedabad in a hunt for the best talents. This year, more than 14,000 athletes, aged 3 to 18, from 387 schools are participating in the event.

The SFA Championships 2024 will bring an exciting lineup of competitions to Ahmedabad. The event will feature a range of sports, including athletics, badminton, football, chess, kabaddi, karate, swimming, kho kho, basketball, table tennis, volleyball and yogasana. Friday, Day 3 of the event, saw the continuation of tournaments in football, basketball, tennis, kabaddi, kho kho, volleyball, and badminton.

Elsewhere, the U-14 boys kho kho tournament saw an exceptional performance by Kendriya Vidyalaya Wafsar, who emerged victorious, showcasing agility, teamwork, and determination to secure the gold. Meanwhile, the skating tournament continued to draw attention as athletes demonstrated remarkable speed and balance across various events. The intense competition on the rink highlighted the dedication of these young skaters, adding to the day’s excitement and diversity of talent at the championships.
