Ahmedabad Times Fashion Week 2024 concludes with a grand showcase of fashion and tradition

Ahmedabad 16 September 2024: The much-anticipated Ahmedabad Times Fashion Week 2024 (ATFW 2024), an initiative by The Times of India and the city’s biggest fashion extravaganza, came to a glittering culmination at the Hyatt Regency, Ahmedabad, on Sunday. The three-day event, from September 13 to 15, brought together renowned designers, up-and-coming talent and celebrities to celebrate the rich heritage of Indian fashion fused with contemporary innovations.

Day 1 – A dazzling start

The opening day of ATFW 2024 set the stage for a mesmerising journey of style, with the Salvi family’s “Ikat Pitara” Patola sarees as a standout highlight. This collection from the custodians of Patan Patola, Neepa, Hetal, and master weaver Kanubhai Salvi, beautifully wove Gujarat’s ancient traditions into modern fashion. With showstopper Kajal Pisal donning a regal Patola ensemble, the collection paid homage to motifs like Manek Chowk and Narikunjar while offering modern-day relevance through lehengas and menswear.

Silver Oak Institute of Design wowed the audience with its eco-conscious “Daybreak Collection”, inspired by the serenity of dawn. This innovative presentation, blending natural dyes and soft hues of indigo, white and peach, showcased a fine balance between traditional and contemporary styles.

Steel Lifestyle’s “Groom Saga Chapter-2” redefined men’s wedding fashion with a captivating mix of classic sherwanis and modern Indo-Western cuts. The designs by Sujay and Kushal Shah offered versatility for various wedding functions, with a sophisticated touch.

Sonani Jewels and Sims Studio collaborated on a dazzling show featuring sustainable, lab-grown diamonds paired with couture designs by Seema Kalavadiya. Showstopper Bhakti Kubavat shimmered in an elegant ensemble, embodying opulent luxury.

Closing the first day was Gopi Vaid’s “Bageecha” collection, a visual delight of floral motifs, vibrant embroidery and intricate craftsmanship inspired by the beauty of nature. Karishma Tanna stole the show with a mesmerising floral creation, bringing the garden-inspired theme to life.

Day 2 – A perfect symphony

The second day of ATFW 2024 continued the celebration of Gujarat’s rich cultural heritage, beginning with Garvi Gurjari’s collection, “Garvi Gujarat.” This tribute to the state’s timeless traditions brought modern design elements to the forefront, from intricate weaves to contemporary silhouettes.

Titali Designer Studio’s Navratri collection, “Satrangee”, injected vibrant energy into the runway. With showstopper Esha Kansara exuding joy and colour, this collection of luxurious chaniya cholis in gajji silk, adorned with intricate mirror work, captured the festive spirit of Navratri.

Jiviva’s collections “Moh” and “Maya” took the audience on a journey through India’s traditional craftsmanship, blended with modern bridal fashion. The use of Paithani motifs and embroidery techniques created a luxurious, timeless collection, with showstoppers Shraddha Dangar and Akash Pandya adding to the glamour.

Jiya’s Designer Studio delighted audiences with its trio of collections – Parinay, Rati and Sangamya. From elegant silks for bridal wear to fusion designs perfect for Navratri, Jiya’s offerings were chic, stylish and culturally rich, with Vyoma Nandi stunning as the showstopper.

Amrin Khan closed Day 2 with “Chirag-é-Rang”, a collection inspired by ancient lanterns. Featuring intricate zardoshi and dabka work, the bridal line catered to brides and grooms alike. Showstopper Malvika Mohanan brought an air of grandeur to the event.

Day 3 – A star-studded grand finale

The final day was nothing short of spectacular, with vibrant collections and stunning showstoppers taking over the runway. Ajay Chavda’s “Teenagers – Madhuram Collection” kicked things off, showcasing a mix of traditional wedding wear with modern twists, leaving audiences captivated by the bold colours and intricate patterns.

The International School of Design delivered a fashion-forward celebration of Gujarat’s heritage with their “Garvi Gujarat” showcase, featuring a fusion of regal bridal wear, sustainable Navratri outfits and haute couture gowns inspired by nature.

EBN Jewelry added a touch of sparkle with their “Lioness in Me” collection, featuring intricate, artful designs that celebrated the strength and beauty of every woman. The collection’s bold and contemporary edge shone through the jewellery.

The grand finale, led by Vinal Patel’s “Sajni” collection, was a tribute to love, dreams and bridal bliss. Each creation was rich in emotion, featuring intricate embroidery and luxurious fabrics. With showstopper Hina Khan gracing the runway, this collection ended the week on a dazzling note.

A fashion week to remember

The Ahmedabad Times Fashion Week 2024 proved to be a brilliant celebration of heritage, sustainability and innovation in fashion. Powered by Sonani Jewels, the event saw an array of partners including Silver Oak Institute of Design, TVM Communication, DJ Toyota, Garvi Gurjari, and many more.
