GANDHINAGAR, GUJARAT | 23rd AUGUST 2026 | The second and final day of the Western Region Round of Young Indians Parliament (YiP) 2026 was held today at the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha in Gandhinagar, with students from Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh participating in the proceedings.
On the final day, students presented bills and committee reports and took part in discussions on various real-life issues. They put forward their views, responded to questions and listened to different perspectives. The sessions gave them an opportunity to understand how discussions and decision-making take place in a parliamentary setting.
The students were observed throughout the two-day programme and were judged on their critical thinking, public speaking skills, research and knowledge of the topics given to them. Their ability to present their thoughts clearly and participate in discussions also formed an important part of the evaluation.
For the students, debating real issues inside the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha for two days was a unique experience. Being able to sit and participate in discussions in an actual legislative setting helped them connect what they learn about Parliament and democracy with a real experience. It is an experience many of them will remember for a long time.
Pradeep Chenthilkumar and Swapnil Ansarwadekar, members of the Yi National Management Team, were present during the programme and witnessed the students’ participation and performance.
The Western Region Round concluded with 25 best delegates being selected to proceed to the National Round of Young Indians Parliament in Delhi. The selection was based on the students overall and their two days performance.
The two-day regional round concluded with students taking back not just the experience of a competition, but also the confidence to speak, question, listen and engage with important issues.
